About Barton Boatworks

Barton Boatworks
Hichigan's Harbor Country

Barton Boatworks is a full service wooden boat building and restoration shop.

With over 25 years of wooden boat maintenance and restoration experience, Barton Boatworks is prepared to assist you in restoring your classic boat to its original glory or build you a new boat with a classic design.

Kyle Barton started Barton Boatworks in the Spring of 2000 in Holland, Michigan.  Kyle began his career working on wooden boats by maintaining, refinishing and sailing the 62 ft. "Serenade", a 1938 N-Class Sloop. Over the past years, projects have ranged from basic yearly maintenance to complete, show quality restorations, including boats from 12 to 29 ft.  Barton also collaborated with another MI boat shop to build seven 14 ft. rowing/sailing boats for Paramount Pictures.  These boats were featured in "A Series of Unfortunate Events", a movie starring Jim Carrey.  Barton also crafted a 1930's Hacker Craft Single-Step Hydroplane Replica using modern construction techniques. Many of his restoration projects are show winners, here in the States and also at Canada's prestigious Gravenhurst, Ontario boat show.

Throughout the years we have been fortunate to make great friends and work with many other boating enthusiasts.  We would like to say "thank you" to many people have helped us become the shop we are today. We could not have come so far without the support of our friends and family.
